On June 18, 1978 The Gund Brothers ended the 3 year project after the 2nd year and announced that they had purchased the North Stars and were merging the Barons with them for the upcoming season.
The Gunds gave it a good shot but when they were unable to purchase the Coliseum from Mr. Greenberg the possible future success of the Barons was doomed.

Also includes footage of 1961 game against the Pittsburgh Hornets at the then new Igloo and footage from exhibition games against Montreal Canadians and Detroit Red Wings in 1968 and 69. (8mm film and not great quality)
On a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto I had the opportunity (Thanks to Craig Campbell and Paul Patskou) to see the Cleveland Barons Jersey that was to be worn by the 1978-79 Barons team if they had not been merged with the North Stars.
